We reported earlier this year that it looks as though Target is moving forward with bringing Apple Pay into their stores. As of today, it would appear as though Target’s Twitter customer service has been able to confirm this rumor.
Target’s Twitter customer service posted a tweet today that says the following:
We are working on the upgrades of our point of service systems! We realize Apple Pay is a desired form of payment and we appreciate your feedback. We strive to make things as easy as possible for our guests. Happy New Year!

Right now, the only way to use Apple Pay through Target is with their iOS app. If Target were to get Apple Pay, they would be one of the few mainstream department retail stores that would have it. Walmart does have mobile payment in their stores, but only through their mobile payment system, Walmart Pay.
There is no current release date or timeline as of now for Apple Pay at Target stores, but we hope that it comes sometime in early-2019.
